Vampire Girl (not Grrl!)

I s’pose I’m “off of” the Naming Your Day thing. It was fun while it lasted. It’s just that I haven’t named my days for so long. Gee, how long has it been? I’ll have to think back so far. Too tiring. Won’t do it. 😀  I like how I’m talking and thinking in choppy, mini sentences. I’ve been reading Amy Tan’s JOY LUCK CLUB and I LOVE her writing. When she writes in broken English, I can literally  hear an American- Chinese immigrant  woman in my head. It’s a super book (and the movie is fab, as well).

Anyhoo…I haven’t blogged in a bit but I am ONCE AGAIN motivated to blog after encountering a strange soul walking our earth. 😉

I was on the bus yesterday coming home from Seoul when a girl got on the Express Bus I take to get home. It’s a bus that goes fairly directly from Seoul to Dongtan so when someone  odd/creepy/scary/strange gets on, I usually start praying that the person doesn’t sit next to me for the 40-ish minute ride. heh heh

Welllll, this girl got on the not-so-full bus, looked me DEAD in the eye and then thankfully chose the seat on the other side of the bus. Whew. Close one. I’ve never actually counted how many rows of seats there are on those buses but they go 2×2. So, there are two seats together on one side of the bus with an aisle in between another set of two seats. So, I was sitting on one side of the aisle and she sat on the other side of the aisle directly across from  me.  I kept looking over at her though because she looked like a vampire. A real, human vampire. Well, not human I guess. 🙂

Ooh, her eyes were so creepy: Sharp half moons that were reddish with a yellow glow.  And her incisor teeth were so sharp and pointy and her skin was pure white with a gray dull to it. I’m SURE she was an actual vampire.

I am going to start keeping track of how many interesting individuals (wink, wink–I’m P.C!!!)  I see during my days. It’s a good way to pass the time.

On another more annoying note: I’ve been realizing that my hair is falling out at warp speed these days. Hmmmm. Remember my Female Pattern Baldness blog back 8-ish months ago???  WELLLLLL. It might be time to re-visit the issue. Even my MALE co-worker approached me today and told me he’s been finding heaps of hairs on his pillow every morning. I nodded in agreement. Just this morning I was noticing the dozens of hairs scattered over my pillowcase AND my sheet under my head. I am going to look into some sleeping bonnets or something. Can’t go on losing this much hair. Sheesh Lousie Parker. JEEZ. What is up? I think it’s the crappy water or ???  I’ll blame it on the water quality for now and once I figure something else out, I’ll recant it and let the water off the hook. But for now, I am pegging the water.

YUP.

Mmm. I will count the hairs I lose tomorrow before I let myself freak out about this.

Blink, blink, blink

EEGADSSSSS I can’t stop blinking my eyes! My eyes have felt so terribly itchy these past 2 weeks.   :/

They feel itchy and dry and irritated and fluids ooze out (well, sometimes fluid oozes out.) ick. It’s a clear fluid…but thicker than normal, I’d say. It hasn’t turned funky green or yellow thank goodness. And when I rub my eyeballs they make a squishy sound from me swirling my eyeballs around in their sockets…like squish, squish, squish. And I can’t stop poking at them which of course, makes them worse.

My newest thing is squirting Visine drops in them first thing when I wake-up and then when I come home from work. I was SOOOO excited to have been able to get some Visine drops on the army base a couple of weekends ago. Thank golly gee goodness. But I know me and my addictive personality so I GOOGLED overuse/overdosing on eye drops and well, wouldn’t cha know that using Visine too often can cause REBOUND RED EYE!??!?!?!? (((insert scary movie/suspense music here))) YES! That’s right. I have to get off of my Visine kick. OOOH, But they just feel sooooo gooood going in. Ahhhhhh. Ooooooh. Ooh.    😛

Thankfully, my eyes don’t look like this:

Anyway, I think it’s interesting that I’m experiencing allergies here in Korea this year. I was lucky my first 2 years here, I guess. Or, maybe the gal I met last year was right when she told me that after a couple of years in a new environment, allergies develop. Hmmm. I need ALLEGRA!  No. I need my Claritin-D!!!     😀

Eyes. Ahhh, windows to the seoul.   😉

hehehehehe!!! 🙂

Commoner turned Celebrity

So, a friend and I went to see a belly dance show in Seoul today. It was an all-day event with a competition in the early afternoon and then two professional performance shows in the evening. Anyway, I knew there would be “big names” in the belly dance community there, so I told my friend to wear her fancy jewelry and make-up so we would look good when we took pictures with the cast members of the show.

Well, seeing as we live in a new, small city and have sketchy bus service to our home–we felt the need to immediately head home after the show ended at 10:15pm…So, we hopped in a cab and gratefully caught one of the last buses to our city with no problem. Although, we hadn’t taken a picture with any belly dancers…(sniff, sniff).

But earlier in the evening we were leaving the performance venue to go get some food. On our way out, we were stopped by a Korean woman who held out her hand to me and asked, “Can I take a picture with you?” And I thought…”hmm, she probably wants me to take a picture OF her…”And so I asked her to clarify and it was a little awkward for a moment while we were each figuring out what the other was trying to communicate. After the moment had passed, my friend and I looked at each other like, “O.K. The woman actually wants to take a picture WITH me.” And it was sort of humorous but I felt silly because there was absolutely no reason why she should have wanted to take a picture with me. My friend and I both joked that the lady must have  thought I was part of the belly dance show. (My eye make-up must have been THAT good.)  😀

So, there I was…a commoner turned celebrity. Only in Korea, peeps! Love it!!
