Miessence and Me

Well, you know I am always doing my best to incorporate healthy foods into my diet and treat my body right.  Welllll, okay.  Not all the time. 😉

I have been feeling kind of blah and haven’t been fueling my body with the best foods available to me.  Stress= CHOCOLATE!  Loneliness=COOKIES!   Occasional boredom=MORE CHOCOLATE!   I know that I need to get my eating habits cleaned-up once again. Sometimes my diet is so pure and I feel like a rockstar, other times I let my diet sink into a trash-can-sort-of-state and I feel like a roly poly.

I, as many people know, used to be (key words there…) a raw foodist.  Even though I am not a hardcore raw foodist these days, I still keep up with certain websites and friendships I’ve developed.  Anyway, I have a great friend (whom I’ve never met) 😉 in the Philippines and she always sends me information about new products/retreats/etc. that she hears about through her work if she thinks I might be interested.

So, to make this long blog shorter…she got me in contact with a woman here in the states who sells certified organic health supplements from Australia. Oh, the world is so small now! http://kvorganics.mionegroup.com/products/productDetail.jsf?item=15101

I contacted the woman, Lacey Swartz and she sent me three samples.  After using InLiven and Deep Green (two of the products) for a month, I noticed a few things:

1)  I do feel better.  Who knows if this is the placebo effect or not.  I am fine with it being either way, since how I feel is most important       to me.

2)  After using InLiven, I would have to go to the bathroom a lot.  I honestly think it’s because it has organic spirulina in it and I know spirulina always makes me go to the bathroom a lot.  (I’m talking every 20 minutes…)  Haha.  It’s supposed to be really healthy for people and regulates body fluid levels by removing excess fluid.  I guess I am just soooo full of excess body fluid whenever I consume it.

3)  Deep Green has a strong “green” taste, so I found that when I mixed it with cacao or carob it was muuuch better! 😀 It is alkalizing for the body because it has a bunch of different greens in it and I found that I felt really clean after I consumed it.

Both of these powders do have their own “green”  flavor, so I enjoyed them a lot more when I added them to my banana/green  smoothies.  They go really well with bananas.  I got three samples:  InLiven, Berry Radical, and Deep Green.  I will write about Berry Radical next time.  ^-^  So far, so good.  I really like the products because they make me feel healthy.  Lately, my diet hasn’t been where I would necessarily *like* it to be, so these powders are a super easy way for me to get heaps of nutrients into my diet while eating less clean than desired.  Oh yah!

Here’s an oldie, but goodie:

Gluten-Free Folly…

So hooray for me I was introduced to a health food store in the High Desert that sells TONS of gluten-free options! YAYAY. I was sooooo excited when I saw it. A beacon in the night. Oh, my heart skipped a beat. It was love. And it was SO much bigger and nicer inside than I thought it would be! I mean, where I’m living now…there’s no Trader Joe’s. There’s no Whole
Foods. 😦 But! We have BJ’s!!! 🙂 I’ll write the contact info for this place in Victorville at the bottom of this post. Hey–I’m here to help.

I was greeted by a very friendly employee named Eric who was terribly HELPFUL! He gave me a tour of the store’s gluten-free products! How sweet! And the store has everything gluten-free very clearly marked, which made my shopping über-easy.

This is what I bought:

So disappointing. :*(

Yah, so I bought these and ripped into them right when I got into my car since I was sooooo excited to be eating GLUTEN-FREE cookies. WELL, my excitement was quickly extinguished when I bit into one. BLECH. BARF. BLAH. This company missed the mark. Like, they were aiming for ___here____  but they ended up landing

all

the………………..way………………….

over……………………………………………………..______here______.

They used SORGHUM FLOUR (aka, Milo flour) which is *supposed to* have NO FLAVOR/TASTE…so I’m figuring the cookies’ sweetness tasted “off” to me because they used grape, apple and pear juice concentrates as well as date paste and brown sugar puree. That’s a lot of different “sweet stuff,” isn’t it? They also put in some rosemary extract…for what? I didn’t taste that in the cookies but the sweetness was not normal. It tasted kind of chemically, actually. Not normal. Not like normal sugary sweet. It could be from all of those fruit juice concentrates. Who knows? This brand is ICK. PASS!!!!! I’ll pass, thank yew ver-y much.

Here it is next to a Burt's Bees container. ^-^ They're small cookies...but thick and ICK anyway!

I definitely recommend BJ’s to ANYONE who is interested in Health Products, though. They have RAW stuff…good, organic produce…and a great staff. ^-^ Cheers!

Toilet joys?!

Ahhhhhh.

You know, I’ve realized that I often start out my blogs with “Ahhhhh…”  Heehee.  Hey, at least I’m aware of my habit.

So yes.

Ahhhhh, earlier this past week I suffered ((for 12 torturous hours)) from food poisoning or some random OOBE flu  ((you know…OPEN ON BOTH ENDS)) By far, *THE* worst bout of food poisoning I’ve EVER had in my ENTIRE life on the face of this planet.

It started out right at the strike of 8:00am when I woke-up (naturally, without my alarm…) with the urging/pressing feeling that I was going to throw-up. Mmm. Not my preferred way to start off my  Monday morning. So, yes…I threw-up. And then the OOBE started.

Oh sighhhh.

Fast forward to puking and the Big “D” until 3:00pm-ish…when I was starting to have some relief…but then my boss kept calling me to check on me and encouraging me to EAT SOMETHING. Wellllll, I *was* hungry but ya know…I was still an open faucet every 20 minutes at that point. (Which was a much improved condition from having to “go” every MINUTE.) No joke. No exaggeration.

After he suggested for the umpteenth time that I eat something, I made guacamole since I had an avocado. And anyway I LOVE it (avocado, that is). That was not such a good idea, though.

It started the faucet FULL BLAST AGAIN! Grrrrr. By this point in the day, I was wiped. heh heh. I like that pun.

At this point, I was TRYING to sleep, but I couldn’t because I kept going to the bathroom and I started throwing up again.

It HAD to have been MORE than just plain ol' salmonella though...

Longer story shorter the reason I am sharing all of this with you is because I have mentioned that I am doing a RAW FOOD CLEANSE INITIATIVE recently and wanted to inform you that I had released 10 pounds as of two Fridays ago through this cleanse program. But while I was sick as ever on Monday I figured that I would be down another 10 pounds from my day on the toilet.

And well: Yes. I was right. *^_^*  hahaha. LOL. Not that I should be happy about this because ewwww…what a way to have a weight release. Would I do it again? HELL NO.

But I must say that I felt compensated when I saw the number on the scale was another three pounds lower than last week. 🙂

Yep. So, now I’m down 13 pounds. Oh yah. Raw food. If anything, I’m more susceptible to getting food poisoning from uncooked foods that are NOT prepared by my clean hands. LOL. hahaha OK. Not funny. It was the FIRST experience I’ve had with this since I started the cleanse two months ago, though.

“Lose weight quickly by eating raw pork or rancid tuna. I found that the subsequent food poisoning/diarrhea enabled me to lose 6 kg in only 2 days.” –Unk to me      HAHAHAH. Love it, though.

“I just grabbed a couple pretzels and sat down at the computer… I bit in to one and realized that not only was it stale, but I wasn’t really all that hungry to begin with. But I was too lazy to get up and toss them in the trash, so I ate them anyway… I wonder just how many of the Seven Deadly Sins that qualifies me for…”   –Unk to me, as well–and not exactly ON TOPIC… buutt LOL!!!
